"A seven year labor of love. That’s how long this book has been in the works. Author Dan Irving went on his first mission trip with Amor in 2004. A year later he started writing about his experiences in 2005. He was following a hunch that he was being “hounded by heaven” and that he was going to, “follow it where ever it took me.” As he began to become more familiar with Amor, he started to investigate if there was any connection between Amor and his experiences in 1973 in Birmingham, England where he got arrested as an “undesirable alien” because of his illegal charitable work with the gypsies. “I first started this journey to discover if what happened in England was connected in any way with Amor. I had a hunch that it was because I started learning about Amor and about what happened in Tijuana, at an orphanage, and thinking they are connected.” Once Dan started connecting those two “dots” after talking with Amor CEO, Scott Congdon, “I had no confirmation until I started talking with Scott. I had no idea until he confirmed it to me and it put a fire under me!” “Wow, these two distant things, which appear so far apart in time are actually related and connected. I knew that’s not what started Amor, but it was a seed and was a part of starting Amor,” exclaimed Dan.

The story just kept getting bigger and bigger and Dan said I would just keep following it. As he kept following it he thought maybe it would be a book. He started meeting with Harper Publishing and then it got too big. It got to 1,500 pages too big! “That’s when I realized I needed to parcel it out into “books” and that’s when the first one, “Don’t Expect Luggage to Arrive” was published,” said Dan.

Why would you want to read this book? Dan says anybody who’s been on an Amor trip, has supported Amor or just wants to see God’s miracles at work will want to read this book. “One, it tells you about the miracle of the story, of Amor Ministries- how they were started, how they transformed the Tijuana dumps into a community. It tells you of the story of the founders, Scott and Gayla Congdon, and Steve Horrex.” Dan says, “The integrity of these people, the mission of these people has never changed. This is Amor. Of all the thousands of homes they’ve built and hundreds of thousands of people who’ve been involved, “Don’t Expect Luggage To Arrive” tells stories about Amor mission trips, the good that they are doing, and the people that go on them.”

What is the future for Don’t Expect Luggage to Arrive? Author Dan Irving say that this story is so big that, with over 1,300 pages still unpublished, there is room for six to eight more books. “This is a series of books,” he said. The next book, out most likely in 2014, will go start off where Don’t Expect Luggage to Arrive leaves off. It will go back further into the roots of how God works and how these amazing connections are part of the seeds of Amor, which actually goes back to the trenches of World War I. Wow, World War I? What does Amor have to do with WWI? Better get your copy of Don’t Expect Luggage to Arrive from Amor or from Amazon.com (currently available in paper back and E-book version.)"
